Bilingual Support Services

The Writing and Reading Program offers composition classes geared specifically toward English language development.  Non-native speakers of English are placed according to their skill level into one of three composition options: ENGL 100, a course in English as a Second Language for intermediate students, ENGL 132/133 with a linked LA 250/251 lab for students who demonstrate competence, and the standard ENGL 132/133 for students with exceptional English language skills.

Professor Bill Grohe is our bilingual/ESL specialist. He teaches composition for non-native speakers, and he also offers one-on-one tutoring assistance. Bilingual students should also feel free to visit the Writing Center where tutors will help students with rhetorical strategies, grammar, and mechanics.
