The Writing Resource Center, in conjunction with the Writing and Reading Program, provides critical support services designed to assist all students with the challenges of college-level writing and reading. Students may use one-on-one tutoring services, request help with reading difficulties, or for bilingual students, seek support geared toward English language development. |

The Writing Resource Center (WRC) is actually comprised of several classrooms and offices in Herman Hall. Rooms 103 and 107 are computer classrooms where many composition classes meet once a week. Room 105 is the WRC office where lab assistants and tutors are available to help students or faculty with questions or technology problems. Herman 109 and 111 are the administrative offices of the Writing and Reading Program. Students and faculty may stop in to Herman 109 or 111 if they have questions or would like to schedule an appointment with a writing tutor. |

The Writing Resource Center has a staff of very capable tutors who can help at any stage of the writing process. Tutors engage students in dynamic discussions designed to assist with idea and paper development. Students learn how to analyze assignments, how to apply appropriate rhetorical strategies, how to document sources according to appropriate conventions, and how to recognize and revise problems with grammar and mechanics. To make an appointment, students may inquire at the desk in Herman 105, or call 413-782-1263 or 413-796-2036. |

The WRC has computers available for students to use to complete their writing projects. There is no time limitation, and very rarely is there a waiting period. There are 47 computers running Windows XP and MS Office 2000; these computers all have Internet access (limited to class assignments and research), and a variety of writing assistance software. The center has a scanner available for student and faculty use. |
