Faculty/Staff Information

The Student Activities program at Western New England College is well balanced in its scope and continues to expand yearly.  It provides opportunities for the personal, social, recreational and cultural development of students with and beyond the formal classroom setting.  Student organizations can be classified as Student Governance (Student Senate, Residence Hall Association, Hall Councils), departmental and professional clubs, honor societies, special interest clubs, student media, class officers and councils, and student programming.  Currently there are over 60 student organizations reflecting the current trends and interests of our students.

The justification for these programs develops naturally from the pursuit of underlying educational goals.  The strength of Student Activities and Leadership Development rests in the fact that it affords students to pursue and to develop transferable life and leadership skills.

So How Can I Get Involved?

Become a faculty advisor - Every club and organization on campus needs to have a faculty or staff member serve as their advisor. It is an honor to be asked as it shows a certain comfortable and rapport that the students feel towards you.  But the responsibilities of advisor shouldn't be taken lightly.  The Faculty/Staff Advisor handbook spells out the responsibilities of a club advisor and should be read prior to excepting an invitation.

Refer to the Student Activities Calendar - Many of our regularly scheduled events (speakers, leadership workshops, etc.) can compliment your syllabus.  If you see something that may tie in to any of your classes, please contact us (x1203 or imartin AT wnec.edu) and we will help make accommodations for your class.

Attend our events - Our students love it when faculty and staff come to events they have worked hard to plan and implement.  Most of the programs they put together are open to the entire campus community.  Stop in and support our students hard work.
