
Members of the Residence Life team live within the halls and complexes with the students to assist with their developmental, personal and academic needs. Position titles are listed below (with a brief description), but it is the viewpoint of the Office of Residence Life that we work within the same guiding philosophy: to maintain an atmosphere of personal concern, as well as provide an environment conducive to student learning, growth and opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
Area Coordinators reside with in Evergreen Village (upperclass apartment-style housing) and Commonwealth Hall (first year and sophomore housing). In addition to the implementation of the day to day operations of their areas, each of these full time professionals is responsible for the creation and implementation of a programmatic infrastructure pertaining to the overall student population.
A full time Residence Director resides in and oversees each of the following locations: Windham Hall (first year student housing), the LaRiviere Living and Learning Center (sophomore housing), and the Gateway Village apartment complex (sophomores, juniors, and seniors).
A graduate student Residence Manager resides in and oversees each of the following traditional style residence halls for first year students: Berkshire, Franklin and Hampden Halls.
There are two Assistant Residence Managers, one of whom resides in and oversees Plymouth Complex (sophomore housing) while the other individual resides in and assists with the management of Gateway Village. Assistant Residence Managers often have the opportunity to be "promoted" to Residence Mamagers after a year of employment.
Resident Advisors are undergraduates selected for their leadership, interpesonal skills, and a committment to positively influence their peers. We assign the majority of Resident Advisors to work with first year students and sophomores in the residence halls, but they are also critical players in all of the other residence areas.
