For the Love of the Games

Ron Froehlich, president of the International World Games Association, spoke on April 22 at Western New England College about the business of world sport and the bidding process that cities go through in vying to host the World Games. In addition, Froehlich described the difference between the World Games and the Olympics, citing that the World Games are held the year after the Olympics and feature sports not seen at the Olympics. "Most of the cities that bid for the World Games have their sites on a future Olympics or something of that nature. Some of these cities have other ideas and some of the cities that are bidding are supported by the countries because they want to bring the Olympics or another event to the country," said Froehlich.
