Second Annual “One Child at a Time” Dinner and Silent Auction Scheduled for April 14th at Western New England CollegeWestern New England College will host the second annual "One Child at a Time" dinner and silent auction, featuring Ed Smart, to benefit the radKIDS program for children on Thursday, April 14 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Rivers Memorial Building on the College’s main campus at 1215 Wilbraham Road, Springfield. Guest speakers for the evening include Ed Smart. Since the abduction of his daughter Elizabeth in 2002, Smart has become a nationally respected child safety advocate. Smart will be joined by John and Magi Bish, who created the Molly Bish “Lifeguard” Foundation after the abduction of their daughter in 2000. The foundation is devoted to promoting child safety through education and prevention. RadKIDS executive director Stephen M. Daley will present “Building A Safer World One Child at a Time.”
A nonprofit educational organization, radKIDS, Inc. (www.radkids.org) is dedicated to providing proven and effective lifesaving skills for children, ages five through 12, by teaching them how to "Resist Aggression Defensively." In its commitment to the community, Western New England College has partnered with radKIDS to establish a three-credit college course called Western New England College Cares About Kids for students who want to become certified radKIDS instructors.
Western New England College is a private, independent, coeducational institution founded in 1919. Located on an attractive 215-acre suburban campus in Springfield, Massachusetts, the College serves 3,700 students, including 2,500 full-time undergraduate students. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs are offered through the College's Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Law.
