College Announces New Certificate Program in Applied Behavior Analysis

Posted June 29, 2009

Western New England College has launched a new certificate program to meet the growing demand for professionals trained in the best practices for the education and treatment of individuals with autism and related disabilities. Starting this fall, the College will offer the Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Applied behavior analysis uses scientific principles of human behavior and learning to facilitate socially important behavior change. The approach is useful in school settings because it enables teachers to more effectively assess and influence student learning or problem behavior.

The certificate program is designed for working professionals who have already earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Classes meet one night per week over the course of four, 11-week semesters. The two-year program combines coursework with practicum training, providing students with real-life experiences. The program will position students to take the exam to become a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, depending on their qualifications.

Classes begin this fall. For more information or to apply, contact the Admissions Office at 413-782-1517 or study@wnec.edu.
