Welcome to the website for the Office of Learning Beyond the Classroom! Contained on this site is information regarding Western New England College's Learning Beyond the Classroom requirement, as well as resources for students, faculty, administrators, and community based organizations.

The College's Strategic Plan states that "Learning Beyond the Classroom will be a significant element of every student's academic program and personal experience." In the Fall of 2003, Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) was incorporated into the College's General Education Requirements and since then, the program has continued to grow. 

Learning Beyond the Classroom provides students with the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts they learn in the classroom to authentic life situations. Students have tremendous flexibility in satisfying their LBC requirement through a number of curricular and co-curricular options. Please thoroughly review the information contained on this website as it may answer many questions and dismiss myths about the LBC requirement. Students, faculty and staff should feel free to contact the office if they have any questions regarding the requirement or its implementation.
