Welcome to the e-CHUG
An Online Self-Assessment of Alcohol Use
Success is based on making good decisions including those associated with drinking. In order to make good decisions, we need to have good information. It is for this purpose that the e-CHUG is listed on the First Year Program website. It is a tool designed to consider one aspect of life circumstances that can lead to academic and personal demise. Should the choice be made to drink, we hope that the e-CHUG information will provide a backdrop against which that choice can be evaluated.
The e-CHUG is a STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL survey that takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Your name is not attached to this assessment in any way so no one will view your feedback but you. Answering each question truthfully and accurately will give you a helpful perspective regarding individual patterns of alcohol use and how it might be affecting personal relationships, life and career goals, academic success and overall health and well being. The results are immediate and can be read on-line and/or printed out. You can also print out a certificate of completion if this program has been assigned in a class or as a disciplinary sanction.
What does the e-CHUG do?
When you access the e-CHUG, you are prompted to enter information about yourself. In addition to demographic information, you will be prompted to enter information about your drinking habits, family history, and to complete the World Health Organization’s AUDIT.
After all information has been entered, you submit the form. The information you have entered is then validated and processed. The e-CHUG calculates a number of variables and compares your responses to national and Western New England College norms. Then, your personalized feedback is displayed in an easy to read format.
