A Special Message for Parents:

As the days of August slip by, I am sure your attention is more and more focused on that day when you depart from home to Western New England College. Whether that journey is near or far, August 31st marks the beginning of a new journey in education for your son or daughter. It is a special day indeed for us all.Fall Convocation 1 2005

One of the unique ceremonies associated with the start of the year is Fall Convocation. This ceremony is staged with all the pomp and circumstance associated with higher education and includes first year students entering the arena in academic regalia. It is here that students receive their graduation cap and special pin to be worn four years forward. We also honor last year's freshman students who distinguished saying goodbyethemselves academically by achieving membership in the National Freshman Honor Society. There is much to celebrate at Fall Convocation. Convocation begins at 3:00 p.m. and concludes by 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 29th.

As you make plans, I truly hope you will arrange to attend Fall Convocation and witness the proceedings. I believe it is important for families of first year students to be present to validate student presence in the academic community. I also hope you will attend the President's Reception that immediately follows in the Pine Grove while student have their class photo taken. Families depart immediately following the reception.

I wish you well and I convey my thanks for allowing us to be part of your family's life during the next four years.

Sincerely,

Theodore R. Zern
Dean of Freshman & Transfer Students
