STUDENT ACTIVITIES & INVOLVEMENT EXPOimg_0293.jpg
Thursday, September 10th in Rivers Arena
This is an opportunity for students to involve themselves in the life of the college community as information becomes available on all student clubs, organizations and community service initiatives.  The Student Activities Expo provides students with the necessary information so that they can make an educated decision on whether or not to join a club and, if so, which one best suits them.  Other service areas represented include campus safety and recreation programs.

Applications will be available at the Student Activities Expo as well as in the Office of Freshman and Transfer Students beginning on August 31st.  Click Here to download an application.  All applications are due on Monday, September 14th . This allows students to learn key skills of delegation, teamwork and compromise.   Freshman council is an organization intended to foster a sense of class identity and provide gateways to community engagement.  Freshman Council meets weekly and normally consists of approximately 15 to 20 members who function within a laboratory of leadership, program development and organizational development.

The series begins with the quotation from Oliver Wendell Homes, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies ahead of us,” and continues with the topics of motivation, self esteem, communication skills, team work, and group dynamics, concluding with transferable skills.  The sessions are both cognitive and experiential and allow the participants to learn more about their own skill level and to chart a course for further development.  Students are encouraged to practice these skills through clubs and organizations.
