LABORATORY SAFETY
This portion of the Environmental and Safety Compliance website is provided for a small but relatively complex portion of activities at Western New England College. Although the term "laboratory" is used in labeling numerous teaching facilities on campus, only those activities engaged in what the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration defines as "laboratory use" of "hazardous chemicals" are covered by this separate safety program.
Specifically, these College programs are:
THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES:
- All laboratory activities of the Department of Physical and Biological Sciences.
- The laboratory and research activities associated with Physiological Psychology courses in the Department of Psychology.
THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING:
- All laboratory activities of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Please note that all other College activities involving hazardous chemicals are covered by the more general requirements of the Hazard Communication Program available in another section of this website.
