Make the Right Call

Five-year Bachelor/MSEM

What are the growing market segments? Who should be promoted? Which manufacturer should be patronized? These are some of the many choices made by managers every day. Decisions made wisely can bring a myriad of rewards to an organization while the consequences of poor decisions could have dire effects for a firm’s long-term health.

With a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Western New England College, you will be prepared to help your organization make the most effective use of its resources: people, equipment, capital, materials, information, and energy. You will learn proven strategies to increase productivity, encourage flexibility, and focus on customer satisfaction. And you will learn to apply engineering skills to design effective systems and devise procedures to successfully operate these systems.

Provisional acceptance is granted to incoming freshmen that score a combined 1200 on the SAT Math and Critical Reading portions and have a 3.5 high school GPA. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher each year (freshman, sophomore, and junior years) to maintain their provisional acceptance. Students who do not qualify for provisional acceptance as an incoming freshman can apply during the first semester of their junior year as long as they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Curriculum

In order to complete the program in five years, electives in each of the four undergraduate engineering programs are replaced with the course work necessary to accelerate the completion of the MSEM program. Each of these undergraduate curriculum satisfies the ABET compliance criteria for accreditation.

Graduate students in the Five-year Bachelor/MSEM program will need to complete a total of 153 credit hours to earn a BS in their engineering field and an MSEM degree. The MSEM degree requirements include four 600 level core courses, EMGT 648 and/or EMGT 605, plus a program of study developed in consultation with the student’s graduate adviser. If a student decides to leave the program and receive their BS degree, they need to complete 132 credit hours.
