PARKING AND TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

Western New England College has a beautiful campus—a walking campus for everyone to enjoy. It is easy to walk to every building on campus and there is ample parking for members of the community and guests whose mobility is limited. The Department of Public Safety therefore encourages drivers to park their vehicles for the day and walk to their various destinations.  The College ensures that you will have a space to park your car, although it may not be right at your front door.

Authority

The authority to regulate parking and vehicle traffic derives from the Board of Trustees through the Director of Public Safety.  Enforcement of the parking and traffic regulations is the responsibility of every police officer in the Department of Public Safety.  The Traffic Division is responsible for managing the process and the 5,000 registered student, faculty and staff vehicles on campus every school season.  The objectives of the Traffic Division include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing traffic / parking citations
  • Temporary parking passes for visitors
  • Special parking passes for students with special circumstances
  • Issuing and collecting specialized parking permits for athletes
  • Managing over 500 traffic / parking appeals each year
  • Managing the Traffic Review Board; an appeals board comprised of students who volunteer their time.
  • Maintaining traffic signage and road markings throughout campus
  • Maintaining the list of vehicles that are subject to immobilization and/or towing due to excessive violations.
  • Developing and issuing the current edition of the Parking and Traffic Handbook as well as the color-coded parking map.
  • Issuing permanent parking permits to all students, faculty and staff.
