Subject: Safety Advisory
Date: Tuesday, September 29, 2009

A home invasion incident occurred recently not too far from campus. Western New England College students reported this crime to Campus Police and, because the incident occurred off campus, the Springfield Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation. This incident provides us with another opportunity to remind all members of the College community to be vigilant -whether on or off campus.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

1.) Be sure to keep your doors locked.
2.) Do not travel alone at night.  We encourage you to use the "Buddy System."  Please remember the Campus Police Department offers a 24-hour escort service by calling 413-782-1411 or 413-782-1207.
3.) Blue Light Emergency Call Boxes are located throughout the campus to report suspicious activity.
4.) Be alert to your surroundings. If you notice any suspicious activity, please report it to the Campus Police Department immediately at 413-782-1411 or 413-782-1207.
5.) The College also offers personal safety programs for all members of the College community through the Office of Residence Life and Campus Police.

In addition, the Annual Campus Security Report provides you with valuable information including crime statistics, crime prevention, security policies and procedures, and how to report crimes or suspicious activity. You will find it here at: http://assets.wnec.edu/28/2008_ACSR_Full.pdf

The Western New England College Campus Police department is available for you 24 hours a day, everyday. Please save the Campus Police phone numbers, 413-782-1411 and 413-782-1207, in your cell phone and/or in your other personal phone directories.

Your safety and success is our top priority.
