VOICEMAIL SERVICE INFORMATION

Voicemail at Western New England College consists of a private system serving faculty, staff, administration and students. Voicemail service is provided as a general means of communication.

Voicemail configuration and functions for faculty, staff and administration

Each voicemail box contains the following capacity and time limitations. Requests for additional capacity and time may be made to Christopher V. Freitag, Facilities Management at extension 1614.

  • Total Number of unheard messages allowed 20
  • Number of day’s new messages is kept 15
  • Number of days saved messages is kept 15
  • Maximum personal greeting length 30 sec.
  • Maximum message length 5 min.
  • Future delivery messages allowed 5
  • Future delivery up to 30 days
  • Maximum number of distribution lists 5
  • Maximum number of mailboxes per list 25
  • Password length required 4 – 10

Voicemail box initialization:

Initialization of your voicemail box is required.

If you do not initialize your voicemail box and then forward your telephone to X2222, messages are still able to be received with a generic message.

How to initialize your voicemail box:

Your password for the first time you enter the system is available by calling Christopher Freitag at extension 1614.

From your telephone, dial extension 2222. You will then be asked for the initial password.

A tutorial will ask you to complete 4 steps:

  1. Record your name.
  2. Record a personal greeting.
  3. Make a new password. Minimum 4 digits, maximum 10.
  4. End the session by pressing the # button.

How to call forward your telephone to the voicemail system:

For all calls: Lift receiver, press *7, dial 2222 then hang up.

To cancel: Lift receiver, press #7.

If you’re busy: Lift receiver, press *8, dial 2222 then hang up.

To cancel: Lift receiver, press #8.

After 4 rings: Lift receiver, press *9, dial 2222 then hang up.

To cancel: Lift receiver, press #9.

Accessing your mailbox:

  1. From your desk, dial 2222, and then when requested, enter your password.
  2. From someone else’s desk, or a phone that does not have voicemail, dial 2222, push * at the request for password. When asked for your ID number followed by the #, enter your extension number then push #, then enter your password when requested.
  3. From outside, dial 796-2222; when you hear the main College greeting dial *.

When asked for your ID number followed by the #, enter your extension number followed by the #, then enter your password when requested.

Tips:

  • When reviewing a message, you may press 5 (keep), 3 (delete), or 8 (skip to next message) at anytime during a message.
  • If you do not want to listen to a greeting when calling an extension, press # to leave a message.
  • To transfer an outside caller to another person’s mailbox, press the switch hook or transfer button, dial 2400, then dial the extension number followed buy # and the digit 2, then hang-up.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR MAILBOX FROM OFF CAMPUS:

  • DIAL 796-2222
  • WHEN WESTERN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE GREETING BEGINS – DIAL *
  • WHEN ASKED “Please enter your ID followed by #” – DIAL YOUR MAILBOX NUMBER + #.
  • ENTER THE INITIAL PASSWORD 987654.
  • LISTEN TO THE TUTORIAL AND DO AS INSTRUCTED
DO NOT HANG UP UNTIL YOU HAVE PRESSED “#” TO KEEP YOUR SETTINGS AND HAVE COMPLETED MAILBOX SETUP.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THEY CAN LEAVE YOU A MESSAGE AT WNEC BY:
  • DIAL 796-2400
  • INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE HEARD TO “ENTER THE VOICEMAIL BOX NUMBER YOU WISH TO LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR, FOLLOWED BY THE NUMBER SIGN# AND THE DIGIT 2.

FOR EXAMPLE: TO LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR VOICEMAIL BOX 1111, ONE WOULD DIAL

IN 1111#2. YOUR GREETING WILL BE HEARD AND A MESSAGE CAN BE LEFT.

CHECKING MESSAGES FROM OFF CAMPUS:

  • DIAL 413-796-2222
  • WHEN WESTERN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE GREETING BEGINS – DIAL *
  • WHEN ASKED “Please enter your ID followed by #” – DIAL YOUR MAILBOX NUMBER + #.
  • ENTER YOUR PASSWORD
  • FOLLOW SYSTEM PROMPTS

Listening to Messages Options

While listening to messages you may;

Press 3 – Delete
Press 5 – Save or Keep
Press 6 – Create or Make
Press 7 - Replay
Press 8 – Skip
Press 9 – Main Menu
Press # - Go to end of message
