Business Informations Systems Curriculum

The curriculum consists of courses designed to provide an understanding of:
  • Integration of business functions through information technology
  • Strong understanding of fundamentals of business applications
  • Knowledge of data analysis and decision-making tools
  • Role of networks in e-business and distributed computing

You’ll study practical applications of computer systems in finance, accounting, management, and marketing. There is sufficient flexibility in the major to allow you to pursue individual interests and to choose among a range of elective courses.

Institute for Computing

The Institute for Computing (IFC) is the central source of information for the BIS, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology majors. Although the major are administered by the separate Schools, faculty members work across all disciplines to give you the flexibility to select your elective courses from any computer major offered and better prepare you for your career. The IFC is one example of the type of collaboration between the Schools at Western New England College and you directly benefit by acquiring skills that will help you achieve your career goals.

Internships, Research and Special Opportunities

Internships and hands-on applications are key. We have a close working relationship with the campus offices of Human Resources and the CareerCenter and with local business and industry. Each internship has a faculty sponsor acting as a mentor for each student. Our interns have worked with information technology and software areas with companies and organizations such as MassMutual Financial Group, General Electric, Mass Export, the Massachusetts State Police, Country Bank, Primerica of CitiGroup, and Enherent.
