Western New England College freshman Brewster Knowlton leads nation in goals-against-average

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) was among the top players on the Western New England College men's lacrosse team that enjoyed one of its best seasons ever in 2009.

Knowlton, a Math and Science major, ranked first among NCAA Division III goalies in goals-against-average (6.04) and was second nationally in save percentage (.656).

He compiled 10 or more saves in eight contests with a season best of 18 against Tufts in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Knowlton received an honorable mention on The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Star Team.

With Knowlton helping to lead the way, the Golden Bears tied a school record for wins after posting a 17-3 record.

Western New England College repeated as TCCC Tournament champions and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third consecutive year.

WNEC was ranked ninth in the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III poll.
