Admissions Requirements

The following criteria will be used to admit students into the doctoral program.

Additional application materials will be reviewed for applicants who:

  • earned a master’s degree in behavior analysis
    ——or——
  • were certified as a master’s-level behavior analyst by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
    ——and——
  • earned a minimum of a 3.6 grade point average (GPA) in their master’s degree program. (Tentative acceptance is allowed for having a GPA between 3.25 and 3.6, if other criteria are above minimal criteria.)
    ——and——
  • earned a combined verbal and quantitative score of 1100 on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) with neither score being below 500 for full admission (Tentative admission is allowed if either score is less than 500, if other criteria are above minimal criteria.)

In other words, a master’s degree in behavior analysis or board certification, graduate studies GPA, and GRE scores will be used as the initial inclusion criteria. The Admissions Committee will then assess the applicant’s potential for scholarship and leadership in behavior analysis by evaluating clinical and research experiences, publication records, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and by participating in applicant interviews. Thus, a vita reflecting significant and ongoing supervised experience in behavior analysis, three letters of recommendation, a personal statement specifying research interests and the faculty member with which the student aims to work, and an interview will also be required to evaluate potential for scholarship and leadership in behavior analysis.

Following the approval of:

  • the admissions committee which will be comprised of the Psychology Department chairperson, the program director, and a clinical adjunct faculty member,
  • a primary advisor who agrees to oversee the professional development of the student,
    ——and——
  • a secondary advisor, who agrees to oversee the professional development of the student should the primary advisor be unavailable,

exceptional students will be admitted to the program.
