Pre-pharmacy Program
Pharmacists hold a unique place in our communities. They serve as both healers, dispensing the medicine used to cure even our most serious ailments, and as confidants, trusted friends consulted when we need them most.
Western New England College's two-year Pre-pharmacy program is an ideal place for future pharmacists to excel. Our program will lay the math and science foundation for you to take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT), after which you may seek admission into a four-year professional program leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and be qualified to work in any facet of this growing industry. Beginning in fall 2011, the majority of Pre-pharmacy classes will be held in Western New England College's newest academic building that will feature state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms.
The Board of Trustees approved and funded initiatives in order to:
- Strengthen the existing curriculum in the two-year Pre-pharmacy program to benefit students entering the program in fall 2009.
- Encourage the development of existing and new graduate and professional programs at the master's and doctoral levels. Develop a fully-accredited and fully-functioning School of Pharmacy graduating its first doctoral students by 2015.
- Build a state-of-the-art, $40 million academic building to open in early 2011 housing the School of Pharmacy, the Sciences, and Psychology.
- Build a new eco-friendly, apartment-style residence facility to accommodate a growing student population which opened in fall 2009.
