Are you looking to visit our campus? Have you already been here once and just want to take another look? Whatever your situation, you are always welcome on our campus. You can attend an open house or set up an individual interview and tour. Can’t make it during the school year? You can always visit during the summer. Mom & SonAs a parent, part of your concern is the academic services that are available to your student. Western New England College is committed to rigorous intellectual inquiry and to the development of a student-centered learning environment. U.S. News and World Report lists us in the top tier of its “North” category, which is based on 15 different indicators related to academic excellence. The College was also listed in Colleges of Distinction, a new college guide and website, which evaluates performance and recognizes institutions based on four distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Communities, and Successful Outcomes.

Student Services

Whether your student will be living on campus or not, the services outside of the classroom are important factors in a student’s success and overall experience in college.

We hope the following links will help you and your student to find important information about these services:

College Planning Calendar

Junior Year

Fall

- Have your student start to think about college options.

- Start to look over college websites.

- Attend college fairs.

- Have the student attend college visits at their high school.

o Find out when a Western New England College Representative will be at your school or a fair in your area.

- Start to prepare for the SAT/ACT.

- Encourage your student to stay focused on their grades.

Spring

- Register for a spring SAT or ACT date:

o ACT Dates

o SAT Dates

- Visit campus or attend an open house.

- Take virtual tours of various campuses.

Summer

- Make more college visits.

- Narrow down the college list.

- Obtain college applications.

- Have your student prepare a resume.

Senior Year

Fall

- Make sure your student is continuing to take challenging courses.

- Have your student send in the application and all application materials.

- Sign up to take the SAT or ACT again:

o SAT Dates

o ACT Dates

- Attend college fairs.

- Have your student start to apply for external scholarships.

- Have your student attend college visits at their high school

o Find out when a Western New England College Representative will be at your school or at a fair in your area.

- Attend an open house or set up individual visits with top schools.

- Obtain a pin for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.pin.ed.gov and start to complete the FAFSA worksheets.

Spring

- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as you can after January 1st. (It is much easier if you file it online.)

- Attend an open house if you haven’t done so already.

- Look into programs for accepted students – Ask about Western New England College’s Day Visit Program!

- Make a final decision

- Pay the tuition deposit - due by May 1st.

- Notify the other colleges to which your student was accepted that he/she will not be attending.

- Send in student’s final high school transcript to the institution they are going to attend.

Summer

- Watch for dates about registration, housing, etc.

- Prepare for your student to start their freshman year in college!!
