“At Western New England College, it is a high level of commitment to educational quality that defines not only who we are, but also what we value as educators.”
-President Anthony S. Caprio
Western New England College defines academic excellence in the context of the total educational experience—what is learned in the classroom and what is also beyond it. This innovative integration of liberal and professional learning prepares students to be adaptive to change, able to analyze and resolve complex problems, dedicated to upholding high ethical standards, and capable of applying these skills and ideals in their work and in their personal lives
Guiding us toward academic excellence is our dedicated faculty. At the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering, undergraduate students enjoy close interaction with faculty—in the classroom, in the lab, after class, and online. Such open access is nothing new, it has been a hallmark of our institution since it first opened its doors to students in 1919.
Word of our commitment to teaching excellence has contributed to our growing national reputation. In its annual "America's Best Colleges" rankings, U.S. News and World Report lists Western New England College in the top tier of its "North" category among comprehensive colleges and universities, which provide a full-range of bachelor’s and master's programs. Western New England College is presently featured in Colleges of Distinction, a college guide and website profiling some of America’s best values in higher education based on the opinions of guidance counselors, educators, and admissions professionals. The College was particularly noted for its active student body; devoted faculty; and academic programs based on developing collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. The College also has been named among America’s Top 100 Hidden Gems in a Washington Post survey.
As a College of about 2,400 undergraduate students, we take pride in the breadth and depth of our programs and the high caliber of our faculty. More than 90 percent of our faculty hold the highest degrees in their disciplines. Their prestigious credentials are further enhanced through practical experience that supports our professional orientation to undergraduate education.
