Western New England College offers undergraduate, graduate, and law degrees through its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Law. A School of Pharmacy is currently in planning.


Faculty

Western New England College has a faculty of 180 full-time instructors of whom 90 percent have received their terminal degrees. The College also has 129 adjunct instructors who share specialized knowledge of their discipline and professional experience with our students. The Western New England College School of Law has a distinguished legal faculty numbering 38 full-time instructors and 37 adjunct instructors.

Students

The College enrolls approximately 3,650 students: 2,470 full-time undergraduates, 630 in full- and part-time programs in the School of Law, and 550 in part-time undergraduate and graduate programs.

Alumni

Western New England College has more than 40,000 alumni, of which 7,000 are graduates of School of Law. These alumni reside in all 50 states and in 26 countries around the world.

Libraries

Students at Western New England College have the use of two excellent libraries on the main campus. The D'Amour Library contains 130,909 volumes. Online databases with full text articles supplement the periodical subscriptions. Interlibrary loans are available as well as online searching using DIALOG and OCLC's EPIC system. The Library's holdings are accessible through the WILDPAC online catalog. In 2005 a new 6,000 square foot Media Center addition was completed, which includes a television production studio and editing suite as well as a digital learning center and a reading room.

The School of Law has approximately 400,000 volumes. In addition, the Law Library has the computerized legal research systems, LEXIS-NEXIS and Westlaw.

In 2008, the Law Building underwent a $5.5 million dollar expansion and renovation project, dramatically increasing the size of the Law Library to provide state-of-the-art technology and additional space for student research, study, and socializing.

Athletics


The College offers a varsity intercollegiate program for both men and women in a wide variety of sports. Currently, 19 teams are fielded in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and wrestling for men; basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball for women. Bowling and martial arts are non-NCAA participation opportunities for men and women.

Varsity and intramural athletics and personal fitness activities are centered at the College's Alumni Healthful Living Center which features two basketball courts; an eight-lane swimming pool; a wellness room; an indoor track; a wrestling room; a weight room; courts for racquetball, handball, squash, and tennis; a studio for aerobics and dance; and a multipurpose field house.

Seating 1,200 spectators, Golden Bear Stadium is the College's newest outdoor athletics facility. The lighted multi-purpose field is part of the Suprenant Field complex and is located adjacent to the baseball and soccer fields. With an artificial turf field, the stadium is home to the College's varsity field hockey, football, and men's and women's lacrosse teams, and is used for the College's intramural program.

Opened in 2004, the George M. Trelease Memorial Baseball Stadium enhances the athletic experience for both players and spectators. The state-of-the-art facility includes a natural field, dugouts, a 500-seat grandstand, a press box, and an electronic scoreboard.

As active members of NCAA Division III, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) and The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), the Golden Bear teams strive for athletic excellence.

A major interest on the campus is the intramural program, which offers the opportunity for every student to participate. A variety of sports are offered based on student interest. In 2008, 52 percent of students participated in the intramural sports program.
